Please describe the circumstances that got you sent to The Program:

I ran away from home and had sex. no legal issues, no drugs, no alcohol, only serious abuse from mother

In which house(s) did you live?


Please describe instances of abuse you experienced while in the program, if any:

neglect when sick, peed myself because wasn't allowed to use bathroom, swats, “slammed” against side of house, stepped on while in push up position (big dirty boot on the back of my head), use of fear to invoke compliance on a daily basis

Describe abuse of other students you witnessed, if any:

same as above and worse for some people

Do you have any good memories of The Program? If so, what are they?

the culture, the beach, the fruit

What is your overall impression of The Program? Did it “help you”?

the Program has hindered me more than it helped

What do you think of the quality of education you received?

what education? you mean the syllabus and text books with no formal teaching?

Did you go to college after attending The Program? If so, what degrees do you have?

I have a masters degree in public administration. Note: never graduated from high school because the credits did not transfer correctly to the public school I went to afterwards. Ended up having to go to Community College first just to get into a 4 year school. Now buried in debt for education and my college fund was wasted on New Horizons.

What is your profession?

I work for the State of Vermont as a Benefits Administrator.

Do you consider yourself a Christian today?


What effect did “The Program” have on your faith?

well, I wasn't a Christian before, but after the program, I certainly wasn't about to sign myself up for the local Baptist church.
